A survey for spotless crake (Porzana tabuensis) was completed throughout the reserves at Pauahatanui Inlet. The survey was undertaken to obtain baseline data on the presence of spotless crake in these reserves to determine the impact of increased predator control on their numbers. Five spotless crake were positively identified, with another possible recordings of three other spotless crake. An outline of historical records of the presence of these birds within Pauatahanui Inlet is included in the report.
