The conservation status of the indigenous plant species in the Wellington region has been assessed by an expert panel. Ninety-six plant species were identified as being Regionally Threatened and one hundred as being Regionally At Risk. The high number of Regionally Critical species (66) highlights the vulnerability of indigenous species to the impacts of pests and human development. An action plan for management and survey of Regionally Threatened plant species is detailed and information is provided about the presence of each species in the different territorial authority areas in the region.
