Sedimentation rates for the Waikanae Estuary over the past 10 years show a strong trend of deposition, a relatively consistent elevated sediment mud content, and a moderately shallow nutrient enrichment depth. The upper estuary remains under pressure from sediment related impacts associated with poor water clarity and muddy intertidal substrates.
