This report documents the benthic cyanobacteria proliferations
that occurred in several rivers in the Wellington region during
2005/06 and examines the likely causal factors. Management
actions taken in response to the proliferations are also
outlined, along with improved monitoring methods to assist
with early detection of potential cyanobacteria problems in
rivers managed by Greater Wellington for recreational use.
