Conservation status of birds in the Wellington Region, 2023

Description: The conservation status of the bird species in the Wellington region has been re-assessed by an expert panel. Seventy indigenous bird species were identified as being resident in the region. Forty-four of these species were listed as being Regionally Threatened; 22 Regionally Critical, 11 Regionally Endangered and 11 as Regionally Vulnerable. Recommendations for conservation activities for birds include predator control, management of flood protection activities and survey priorities.
