Greater Wellington has undertaken soil quality sampling
and analysis annually since 1999/2000 to monitoring the
condition of the high quality soils in the region. The soil
quality monitoring programme has concentrated on
assessing high quality soil sites under a range of different
land uses.

This report collates soil quality from all 116 sites sampled
in the Greater Wellington Region, and compares these
against a national average of 584 samples from other
regions. It presents data in a format suitable for use in the
State of the Environment Report 2005.
