Greater Wellington Regional Council has responsibilities
to manage biodiversity under the Resource Management
Act 1991. Various council programmes that contribute to
the management of biodiversity has recently been
consolidated into the Biodiversity department.
The department is largely operational and is guided by
the Greater Wellington Biodiversity Strategy 2011-21.
