The WRC manages almost 40,000 hectares of forested hill country and
mountain lands in the Wellington metropolitan area. This land provides a
source of clean fresh water to people of Wellington, Lower Hutt, Porirua
and Upper Hutt.

This plan expresses a philosophy of co-ordinated management and
balanced, sustainable land use where the emphasis is on maintenance
of the ecological health of the the land and its ability to provide clean, fresh
water to present and future generations.
