New Zealand, one of the last places on earth to be settled my humans, has one of the worst records of biodiversity loss. This council is committed to making a difference. Regional Pest Management Strategies have been in place since 1996. During that time we have mounted aggressive and sustained offensives on pests such as possums and old man’s beards in the Wellington Region.

This discussion document is the first step in the review of the current Wellington Regional Pest Management Strategies. It examines the key issues for 2001 to 2006 and enables you to have your say in the future of pest management in the Wellington Region. The strategies will be prepared in accordance with the Biosecurity Act 1993.
