Greater Wellington Regional Council has responsibilities to manage biodiversity under the Resource Management Act 1991. Various council programmes that contribute to the management of biodiversity are consolidated in the Biodiversity department.
The Biodiversity department has two core functions:
Biodiversity management
Biodiversity advice and advocacy
This Operational Plan explains these functions and sets out the departments
associated work programmes and the nature and scope of its activities.
