Effluent discharging from stock trucks onto roads is a concern in the
Wellington Region. Spillages of this nature threaten the safety and health
of communities through which stock trucks pass. Damage to roads and
the environment may also occur through run-off.

The Wellington Regional Council has undertaken a scoping study into this
issue following approaches from Masterton District Council and Porirua
City Council, and numerous complaints from the public concerning stock
truck effluent discharges.
