From native forests, to farms, from fresh water to flood risks, biodiversity and beyond. We listen to the land closely, keenly, and provide what’s needed to protect our region’s precious taiao (environment). If we don’t listen, we’ll lose what we have and what might be. Whakarongo Tātou ki te Whenua.

We work with landowners to protect our region's wetlands. Together, we’re improving water quality and biodiversity, while mitigating flooding and climate change.

In 2023 we planted almost 1 million trees, and reduced pest species to increase biodiversity at key sites across the region.

We help farmers care for their land and ensure good environmental practice and improving catchment water quality and biodiversity.

Our flood protection work is expected to safeguard residents from large flood events that could affect up to 3,000 homes, five schools and 600 businesses.
