Groundtruth, WJ4N and Te Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai invite you and your whānau to a community planting day at Otaraua, near Paraparaumu.

Naui mai, haere mai! Otaraua community planting day. Whakatipu rākau | kōrero | kai

Join us to plant over 5,000 trees, listen to kōrero about the area, explore the waterways, enjoy kai, and share your thoughts on the vision for Otaraua.

Otaraua is a special place for everyone to connect with the whenua. As our land and water improve, so do we. Celebrate the Mahi mō te Taiao/Jobs for Nature work already done and be a part of creating positive change for our community and whenua.

Drop in anytime between 10am-4pm to plant trees, enjoy a kapū ti and kōrero, and join us for a BBQ at midday.

Mountains to Sea Wellington’s Wai Connection team will run sessions exploring the arawai and roto of Otaraua. Learn about the tuna, the freshwater fish highway, and the wetlands. You can also participate in an eDNA assessment and try your hand at water quality monitoring.

Please bring:

  • Gumboots or outdoor footwear
  • A spade (if you have one)
  • Water bottle (we have a limited supply)
  • Wet weather clothing
  • Your smiles and good jokes!

REGISTER HERE to help us plan for kai and notify you of any changes.

Parking is available on-site.

This event is organised in partnership with Mountains to Sea Wellington, DOC, Kāpiti Coast District Council, Greater Wellington, and Enviroschools. All are welcome—bring the whole whānau!
